After a run in with a greater demon named Veera, Bernin is more driven than ever to train, get stronger and face the Veera once again.

Sil was recognized as a reader at a young age, which earned her and her family housing in Medaris, the capital, so that Sil may be trained as a mage for military. Sil is a bit spoiled from the special treatment, but her heart is in the right place. Since her run in with Veera, she’s gotten a little more serious about the nature of her work. She is currently dating Cormac.

Cormac is the leader of the demon hunting unit that found Bernin. He’s a skilled fighter and leader, and he does his best to guide Bernin in a good direction. He’s dating Sil, and on his way to being a captain.

Unlike most readers, Elane studied outside of Medaris, under Reywin Liber in arcane magic. In Tenguard she joined the guard for a time, where she met Denrim, and developed an interest in curses. She has a complicated relationship with her rival Denrim, as now heals and dispels curses as her profession. After meeting Ember, she became her tutor and pen pal.

Cultist, and father to Ember, Bernin and Cole. He forced his children from home with the pressure to become full demons, and turned violent towards Ember. Through his associates, he tries to turn them down the path he’s laid for them from a distance, and needs them to prove the worth of their bloodline.

Echo is the second oldest member of Lupa’s pack, and last of the strong Cenra bloodline. He sees Flint’s family as members of their pack, and regrets not being there for them when Ember, Bernin and Cole needed him most. He’s taken a particularly strong interest in Ember.

Denrim is captain of the eastern district of Tenguard. Like many Tennin, he discriminates against Quelladar, cats, jackals, hyenas, and any other race that wasn’t always considered Tennin. Denrim used to be prejudiced towards bloodlines not affiliated with the solar, light or life gods, but a spunky fellow guard-in-training named Elane put him in his place, and became his obsession. Now the two are in a complicated love-hate relationship, often at the expense of those around them. Denrim isn’t so bad when Elane is there to keep him in line, but in her absence, his cruelty shows through. Denrim has an affinity for curses.

Cole is the brother of Ember and Bernin Memeelis. When they were together he was the heart of the group, but when Flint attacked him and awoke his demon blood, his fears and insecurities caught up to him, and as a result was left behind. Since then his fate has been largely unknown.
