You are not entirely wrong, but I would be a bit more charitable than that. It is natural for the story to focus on the interesting parts, she has no doubt travelled a long time between towns with nothing happening, so it is not as though every resolution comes with an immediate antagonism. It is also true that she hasn’t had much opportunity to socialise. So she is probably getting caught by this guy where most people would just avoid him. And it is not all that remarkable that she encounter some sort of social event on her search for a healer that she would rather avoid. One could make a similar complaint if she were to get to the healer and out again without any difficulty by citing the protagonist’s obscene good fortune and saying that the author couldn’t come up with a way to make the search interesting.
So I don’t feel that it is appropriate to read too much into this event’s metasignificance. Most of her messes are due to her father, who presumably would have been someone’s father and they probably would have been a protagonist to a story so…
I am going to assume he is just trying to get the Teili chased away because her business is more successful then his. I mean, I can’t imagine he would cause a commotion if she wasn’t. Then again, that “filthy Teili” comment makes me think it’s more of a race thing :/
That sword in the back might be troublesome. I think that eye symbol is a symbol of the dark god.

I’ve noticed the symbols for the various dietys seem to have various levels of completeness. like the symbol for the sun has been shown with only 3 triangles on the talisman for the campfire but it normally has 8 and on the armor and shields we’ve seen it with more details inside the circle. I’m not sure if the sacrificial dagger is supposed to have a minimal dark god symbol without the upper and lower triangles/bent lines or something else but the gauntlet doesn’t have the lower triangles/bent lines. These are what makes me think there are at least 3 levels of completeness/complexity for god symbols.
That is… concerning.(and well-spotted!)
Perhaps it is just an ignorant design decision? I am sure that followers of the voice make many impressive weapons. The design could well cross cultures without the meaning being retained.
Or it could be a ‘magic’ pattern instead of a ‘religious’ pattern? Assuming that there is any difference… It could be a symbol for blood or pain. That would see lots of use in both weaponry and voice-worship, but doesn’t sound like a simple endurance enchantment or conve-
Oh no…
What if it is a ‘cleaning’ enchantment… It just makes blood disappear… Flint’s stuff all seemed cleaner than you would expect from a blood-cult, maybe sacrifices to the voice just vanish…
I guess that he is an evil imposter, probably an alien here to mind-probe everyone. They got most of the details right, but… THEY MISSED THE CHEST FLOOF!!!
Barring that I would say just a domestic with similar colours to a red fox and short fur. I cannot imagine that a fox would be lacking in floof(although Sil wore covering armour, so I don’t know how to confirm… Oh, wait! Huh… well in winter at least… http://w0lfmare.deviantart.com/art/Winter-Sil-644823681 ) but you never know.
I’ll have you know that Taili are very clean!
Can Teili become demons? If those eyes went red…
If those eyes were red, she definitely wouldn’t be able to hide it XD
All races can be demons.
I just love her eyes, what a cool new character! I hope ember can stay calm and keep her cover during this confrontation.
What is it with Ember getting into sticky situations!?
I am guessing that this guy hassles half the people who walk down the main street. Ember, on the other hand, didn’t meet many people growing up.

Haha, well said. Though, I think Milos was just giving his general 2 cents on the situation.
Yay a new comic!

On another note, I’m really loving your comic!
Glad to hear it ^^
I just love how vibrant their eyes are.
When you have demons amongst you, Racism is even more stupid than normal…

is the butt-hurt guy a fox?

i would imagine that only the females have the floof. XD so still possible for him to be a fox.
