She is gifted at magic that doesn’t call upon gods. Is there a group of people who wouldn’t be in a position to go looking for gods to help with magic? Possibly a group that recently had a couple of vacancies open? Maybe with a natural affinity for converting “pure” magic into a form that is more easily used by others?
I found your comic on DA through infinitedge and after binging through it within a few hours I have to say I really enjoy how your style and writing turned out so far. I really like it.
On the other hand I should really get back to writing my assignment :/ hope you don´t have so stress in college if you still study
So a god is needed to cast spells or at least simplify it for the mage. Has Ember been trying to cast spells in the “normal” method this entire time? She it’s exactly devoted to The Voice so she is essentially “Faithless”. Or perhaps Ember tries to follow the Tennin gods, but since she is has The Voice in her they might not pay much mind, or at least assume she is a devote to The Voice.
This makes me wonder is Bernin magic all neutral mage as well? He himself completely reject his demon heritage so he should be on the same boat as Ember. Perhaps when he was living with Flint the sacrifices he brought for Flint since they were “better” then Embers he might have gotten some aid from The Voice back then? Which helped him better transition to a neutral mage? Or perhaps all his magic is actually fueled by The Voice and he doesn’t even know it. Although Flint had to continuously make sacrifices to keep up his power, and I assume when Bernin left he stopped completely in the tributes to The Voice so his power’s should’ve waned; so he could’ve transition to a neutral mage sometime in the three year gap, and didn’t know it.
I am confident that they have a genetic connection to the god of fire. Or something along those lines… For whatever reason, fire magic is a family thing. I am pretty sure that most people could never hope to do the basic little flame-in-hand thing that Ember can do.
Shadow-magic though seems to be open to everyone, I guess that the shadow-god just has really low standards, or doesn’t know how to say “no”… but that requires a connections, derived from sacrifices and rituals, but I feel as though they can probably keep going for a very long time without waning. Like, maybe it adds a magic-regeneration ability rather than just adding a magic-reserve, so once they have a lot of sacrifices under their belt, they might slowly lose it, but actually using it doesn’t cost them much in the long-term. There is also the thing with the demons, which probably puts them at a basic level of shadow-magic ability, but most demons are ferals who don’t know how to magic.
Ember and Bernin have the Fire magic genetics but Cole does not showing that the magic is not guaranteed to be passed on. Those three are also supposed to be part of a Bloodline for The Voice. If Bernin didn’t inherit that bloodline but Ember did that could explain his normal fire magic and conflicting magics could be what is messing Ember up.(Perhaps she is also Sun Bloodline and it is two bloodlines messing up her god magic)
Here is a catch for you: This magic is powered by your soul, you need that! Do you really want to weaken the thing that is keeping the Demon inside at bay?
She pretty much just destroyed that candle, I am thinking that she might actually be gifted as a Natural mage.

Forgive me please, that should say “Neutral mage”, but you know Autocorrect.

Well, the candle looks fine. Now it’s time to try casting a spell on your own body.
Was that sarcasm, I can’t tell. The candle is now a molten heap of sublimating wax, instead of the freshly lit NEW candle that she was aiming for.
Yes, it looks like she could use a few more practice runs before trying something important. She probably doesn’t have much time left, though.
I actually came across your comic on TWC, and obviously being on this page, i enjoy it ^,..^
Thanks Shado ^^
I’m surprised “Ignite” was used for the flame effect and not “Michaelbay”
…it may be a good thing that he doesn’t seem to exist inside Sia-vay just yet, I don’t think they could handle him, no matter WHICH god he followed.
Ech! I just had a thought of what he would be like as a Voice follower, yee-IKS!
