Bloodline 277
Ken gets what’s coming to him! Denrim’s spell is inspired by the one Elane used on him, but it probably won’t come up in the comic.
I’m still doing a daily update on incentives this month! Some will end up on Patreon afterwards, and some will end up on DA. I hope you enjoy them!

That,… is not a smile. Den’s is capable of being terrifying.
I am feeling a might sorry for Ken here. He might have gone behind people’s backs, but then again, that is pretty much what Delane are doing towards the whole town with Ember. I would much prefer Ken’s self-promoting opportunism than Denrim’s… anything. He seems like the only one being conscientious at all about the zombie apocalypse, him and the ferals at the gates. It isn’t their fault that Ember is a one-in-a-million freak occurrence.
Obviously, Denrim has a thing for Elane and he doesn’t want anything negative happening to her and, if protecting Ember protects Elane, then he’ll protect Ember, too.
Well then I guess Denrim has to assert himself as the team leader somehow. Might seem too much, but I don’t think just talking it out will work out in Denrim’s group. So that should cover any issues that Ken might try something to get back on Ember. Though how regularly does Ember need to check in, Daily? Weekly?
How often has Denrim had to do something like this to Ken and Mence before? Perhaps Ken or Mence didn’t do anything to Elane before, but maybe Denrim had to show off his authority to the two for other incidents I assume. It is good that Denrim is sort of watching out for Ember, but he can very easily turn on her as Elane is really the only anchor.
Ember can’t keep her demon presence hidden for too long so traveling into large cities with a lot of readers may still be problematic. As readers can detect demons from miles away Ember’s current technique can’t be relied on fully. Perhaps Ember can get some sort of official letter to get her out of confrontations if the next reader that confronts her is more like Denrim as oppose to Ahrem?
