I’m planning on following the Ursa Major Awards for the first time this year. Let’s see if we can get Bloodline in on the fun [Link]
I recall seeing Chu of Slightly Damned tweeting about it and following the votes last year. I thought it would be cool to see Bloodline in the running one of these years, just to see what kind of splash we could make. It’s surprisingly hard to find information about the event, but all the nominating and voting stuff seems pretty straight forward. I wonder how competitive it is just to get into the voting?
In other news, Fanart!
Hang on a second. Is Flint communicating to Ember through pain? If so then that would explain the blood droplets as well as the torn book.
I keep thinking about it, and the more I think, the more I think that’s Cole trying to talk to Ember, asking why she left him behind.
… or she’s actually missing Bernin a whole lot right now.
The thing is, Cole was already taken over by the demon inside of him and it can’t be Bernin as he doesn’t know how to use telepathy. I’m sticking with it being Flint as he did need them for his rituals and stuff involving the darkness.
When I say missing him, I mean that she’s talking to herself and asking him, in a metaphorical way, to answer her question. He obviously can’t answer, but she still feels a strong need to ask.
she’s clutching her belly. and we saw blood earlier. poor ember’s on her period.
… her breath is frosting in the air, is that cold in there?
That is why I am leaning towards a nightmare Embers is in a cold, dark, and empty place. Ember feeling extremely lonely, and abandoned; it just really seems like a scenario cooked up by The Voice in her into a what might be if she goes through with getting rid of The Voice in her.
…Hmm I really am very strongly pushing this nightmare narrative. I’m really going to look silly if I turn out to be wrong Hah!
That was also nagging in the back of my mind.
Hmm… what this looks like to me is Ember may have found a way to get rid of that voice that kept whispering to her, and she is have some kind of withdrawal/regret? Then again Ember herself cannot cast the spells so she would’ve needed to have gotten someone else to do it.
I’m starting to think this might be some nightmare perhaps created by The Voice in her to make her feel helpless, and to reconsider her goal to getting rid of The Voice. I just don’t think we would’ve skipped the who process of Ember creating the spell/meeting someone who is willing to attempt it and removed it. The Voice itself has been trying to whisper things in Ember’s ears for some time it kind of does make sense that it would start to invade her dreams if not already.
That or reading all those books about the dark arts finally got to Ember. The Librarian did warn too much delving into dark arts can cause more harm than good.
Hrmmm, what if this IS the voice? Well, Ember’s personal aspect of the voice, her personal demon if you will. If it had its own existence then it might rely upon Ember. From its perspective she would be quite cruel for stifling a new baby demon that was supposed to have a host to bond with… IOr this could be some kind of communion with the voice and it is trying to play on Ember’s sympathies by pretending that there is a lonely and desperate demon that just wants to live…
I didn’t think of it that way, and it does make sense that this is The Voice. Those words isn’t something Ember herself would say. The Voice inside her would be the one protesting on being removed.
I think it could be The Voice itself having thoughts of its own. This maybe The Voice’s own fears that Ember will remove it. Having “Ember” here being the one saying this would also make sense as The Voice inside her is part of her.
So this may not be a dream after all, but a internal thought/inner monologue of The Voice in Ember. Though the question is can Ember know of The Voice’s “thoughts” it seemed that they cannot hide their personal thoughts from each other, but I could be wrong and they can.
what if rather than The Voice talking anymore it has evolved to a point where she is connected to another demon perhaps Cole who had pleaded with her to stay and help him kill Flint.
levitating?
I believe that it is an invisible bed, but levitation is also plausible, and if Ember ever did learn to levitate, I am sure that she would learn to take her books with her!
Waiting for an update for this comic feels like watching a tense movie for some reason.
It is one of those moments yes.
