Looked it it again, looks like she shifted all the bones of this abomination to the front, tearing through insides? And it let go of her during that (before first panel).
Looks like Ember used a simliar technique to what Elane was using to extract curses to cure a knight. Except Ember isn’t using any fillters while doing it. Fiends sure are fragile when you take some of that magic that is keeping them together.
Though I’d be concerned if Ember keeps taking from a curropted well of magic like that. Also Ember’s clothes are in surprising good shape for the front of them being basically nommed upon this Fiend,
Indeed, but pulling the magic into her is just one part of Elane’s trick to pull curses out of people.
The clothing with Neutral cantrips woven into them helps with breaking up the spells woven into those curses. And right now, Ember doesn’t have anything working to do that. Unlike Elane, Ember is taking huge chomps out of those spells without anything chewing them up.
Glad to see Ember was able to get out of that without relying on/releasing her dark side. It is difficult to tell what exactly happened between the last page and this one, though, as she goes from having the Fiend’s tounge wrapped around her and nearly folding her in half in its mouth to free and on top of its head.
Both panels are exaggerations. She placed her hands on it’s nose, cast the spell and pushed down when she was released. Exaggerating actions make for nicer looking panels. It wouldn’t look nearly as impactful or effective if the fiend stayed static and Ember was still in it’s mouth, and probably would have taken more panels to illustrate.
Well looks like she was able to cripple it, and with such a simple spell I would assume as Ember is limited to cantrips. Now I wonder if a more strong mage does the same thing a stronger magic attraction would it pretty much disable the creature? Well now she knows she isn’t helpless. Now if she can spread the word on how to at the very lest cripple them to be taken down to what remains of the guard.
The problem with that is that it sounds like magic like this is almost a forgotten art of magic weaving. Ember might be the only one who could use these catrips in this settlement.
surprising turn
Wait, did she teleport?

It sounds like the neutral magic that Ember was practicing in the library on page 234.
