I still have 2 commissions in my backlog plus a fun pic in the works. I don’t think I’ve really nailed a new rhythm for comic pages since I started doing color lines and the fancy lighting, feels like it hasn’t been a good year for punctual updates. Thanks for being patient!
Is he, delusional?
Yes
Oh good, I hoped it wasn’t just me there. He has a crush on Elane, NOW everything makes sense, in a very twisted way. Kinda disgusting that. No wonder she doesn’t take his challenges.
Denrim has a very weird way of showing his interest to Elane. So wait has he been causing a lot of problems because he just wants Elane’s attention? How does Ken and Mence fall into on what Denrim does? Perhaps they are actually decent Tennins when they aren’t around Denrim. Kind of like in real life when some people act completely different when a certain person is around.
Though I don’t think Elane really is going to fall for his “charm”. It seems that Denrim is going to give Ember a break, but the question is will he remove his curse or leave it to Elane? Even if Elane is really disgusted with Denrim, his actions does fulfill what she originally wanted. Ember is currently incapacitated with a curse, and if Denrim was telling some truth previously it might be difficult for Elane to remove.
One thing is a bit odd and that is Denrim previously was talking about another duel as if they have actually fought each other multiple times in the past, placed curses on Elane, and threaten to put Ember to death if Elane lost the duel. So after all that he backs out practically immediately when Elane throws a spell or two at his direction. Either Denrim has a habit of throwing down the gauntlet to Elane, but backs off when push comes to shove and Elane knows this or this is some elaborate scheme for Elane to win Ember’s trust so she can have more time in figuring out what Ember is.
Huh, I thought that she had already removed the curse(s) when she first showed up. That WHOOKSH as she pops into frame and what looks like the tattered remains of the red/purple spell.
As for him backing down, I suspect that there are Rules regarding Dueling and non deadly/injurious spells are not allowed. Just now, Elane seems to have fired off a salvo of flaming missiles, which to me would likely be more harmful to the body than that of the spells he was threatening Ember with.
i think she was showing him that this was no dual that he would like to fight i think she was trying to tell him it be to the death if he really want to go at it right now and i do not think he want that
I’m fairly certain that it’s all in his head that he even has a chance. She would kick his ass up the river and back down, but because he’s so brain damaged he won’t ever understand that he lost.
The guy is a bully and possibly worse, using ‘demon’ like how Nazi Germany looked at the word Jew. A free license to do whatever the hell he wants with no repercussion…
Someone kill the bastard, please.
he know if it is to the death he dose not have a chance but if it is not he could probably eventually win out
I feel like Denrim is kind of the character arc-type of a “Loving Bully” ( https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LovingBully ) He definitely has some feelings for Elane, but is only conveying it the only way he knows how. It’s really a poor way of doing it, and causing grief to many others around him but it’s his way.
I wouldn’t call for his head …yet, as this shows Tennins has their crazy’s as well. I am interest in Denrim’s character, because he is an example that it doesn’t take a demon to be cruel. Despite that they are followers of light – not all Tennin readers are calm and collective as Ahrem. It would be interesting to see what made him the way he is. Perhaps he had a traumatic experience like Gale? Or was just brought up in a rich and influential family looking down to demon and the Quelladar.
I would like to see more about Denrim so he isn’t just some throw away character that just comes and goes. If he has no redeeming quality in his past to present I would like to see it as it’ll be that much sweeter to see him get his just deserts. Or if he had a more traumatic experience that shaped him to be this way I would like to see him try and redeem himself, but not suddenly turning into all sunshine and rainbows. Or at the very least come to some understanding, and become more reasonable.
I can assume Denrim generally gets away with what he does is because he is a reader. I would compare Denrim with Gale as he even though we didn’t too much about Gale he probably shares the same hatred for demons. Gale is just a warrior and is not as valuable as a reader like Denrim. So when Gale caused trouble he was easily moved out of a garrison to a patrol. Or maybe this might happen to Denrim as well as I assumed that Gale’s reassignment didn’t happen overnight. Though the hard part would be is finding a replacement reader for Denrim’s position as they are not as common as a standard spellcaster/warrior.
