I would like to point out how happy Ember is for magic theory.
I find myself speculating upon Ember learning how gods do what they do and getting closer to becoming one herself.
Instead, I will just ask how much hair-gel it takes for Elane to get that horn? And has she ever head-butted Denrim with that thing?
Only neutral magic can go on non-rigid items? So the enchanted equipment patrols carry primarily armor all have weak points on the joints? As in Parts like plate can be enchanted, but soft armor such as gambeson and leather normally cannot. Perhaps it’s time to upgrade and toss some chainmail on top of that gambeson. Which I assume is more enchantable.
This does make sense as Veera was able to send a (ice?) spike trough Gale’s gambeson armor and not from his plate. This is also a bit concerning for someone like Callum who primarily wears leather and the only enchantment it probably has on it is the same durability enchantment they use on books.
Though there is one question I have from this: How does magic scrolls work? Do they even exist here? As those traditionally hold magic powers in them, and are sometimes even accessible to non-magic users. Or maybe scrolls are similar to what Elane has on her clothes which would make them fairly rare, and only usable to spellcasters with the proper understanding.
I wouldn’t say that. Denrim’s enchanted knife was apparently done with Nayah’s magic, and Elane said here that “enchantments don’t take to ‘non-rigid’ items”. Non-rigid, I am giving to think means things that don’t hold to a single shape, like clothes, where as armor like Gail’s was solid metal. Hard leather would probably be tricky, if not almost impossible. I could just see something like “enchanted ink” though, if you used the right materials and enchanted the powder. I would need more information to speculate further on that, but we are having a bit of an exposure right now, so onto the next page!
That is what I am talking about. I was pointing out that the non-rigid parts of the armor patrols wears would have very weak enchantments compared to the harder/plate sections of their armor. Gale’s armor from the looks of it is some plates over a gambeson. The plate as I said is rigid so it’s probably enchanted, but the gambeson isn’t very rigid so enchantments would be very limited. When Gale was impaled http://w0lfmare.xepher.net/comic/bloodline-155 it is on the black portion of his armor which seems to be used for the flexible portions of his armor. Which is why I think maybe they should start adding chainmail for patrols in more dangerous areas like Cormac’s group. As chainmail is flexible, but it is made of many solid interlocking rings that may be better enchanted.
So, what you’re saying is people just got lazy.

It’s a cowlick that she can’t get rid of no matter how hard she tries.
Yeah, just don’t let her near me while yielding these magical pair of clippers.
:-p
I always love it when a story’s magic system is explained. I’m a sucker for figuring out elaborate systems.
