I really love drawing these two together! It’s a rare pair. Maybe Risaac being revealed will change Ember’s mind about traveling with Lupa and co.? I guess we’ll find out!
Why would they target Ariah? Unless she’s using her nature magic to regenerate deforested and agricultural areas? But growing a forest ecosystem swiftly would take a lot of power, so could she using Lupa’s amulet for a boost?
How does an artefact like that work? Could it even be used like that? According to ember it’s very powerful, which could mean several things. Is it it’s own power source, or…? Bit of a sidetrack. Does she mobilise the forest like the Ents did? (That one’s a bit far-fetched, but anything’s possible.)
Is there a lot of agricultural land surrounding/between border towns? So far we haven’t seen any. Or do the Tennin log Briarwood for resources? The former seems to make more sense regarding border disputes if farming is encroaching on the forest, but we haven’t yet seen a lot of evidence for that.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet how awesome Lupa is. She is amazing and I love her and I want to adopt her as my honorary aunt.
Ahriah really doesn’t seem bothered by the Tennin. In fact she seems very cheery. How and why would they target her specifically? She seems oblivious about the tension between demons and the Tennin. Unless this was all an act I’m surprised Ariah hasn’t develop a hatred to the Tennin like Keine, and Echo. We have not seen Loki’s reaction to the Tennin yet so we can’t say where he stands, but I image probably more aligned to Echo and Keine.
Ember is probably afraid that Lupa will try and push her to embrace her demon side and join them in razing the town. Lupa herself is probably strong enough to do that herself though strike teams might cause some problems. I guess the next question Ember can ask how many towns have they razed since she left Brairwood? Sure Echo said they push back, but some context would be nice. Do they just cause some damage to a town maybe hurt a few Tennin to send a message or do they burn the place to the ground, while killing every single Tennin they see regardless if they are warriors or just defenseless villagers?
Aw, Ember looks so stressed. Risaac is cool, though. I always have a soft spot for villains.
So Lupa and her pack maintain the buffer zone for the demons, keeping the Tennin out of direct conflict with them. I imagine the Tennin wouldn’t let Lupa walk away if it wasn’t a border settlement, Denrim certainly wouldn’t.
