Very strong defense of the heart and lungs, less overall protection and much less weight – probably much better than walking around in a plate cuiress every day for guard duty, much less back pain
A exposed belly makes it very easy to get gutted….
And its a easy target as well….
A attack might even deflect from the chestpiece into the belly….

I do wonder is a demon masking their energy an uncommon occurrence? If they are aware that demons are able to mask themselves do they even have any way of finding the hidden demon? Would that mean if the other demon would reveal himself, and cause some chaos with no witnesses around meaning Ember would take the fall?
I assume Elane must have told the General that Ember is a demon, but a special one like the Quelladar. Elane is aware that Ember cannot keep the demon presence hidden for too long as she wasn’t feeling well. I doubt when the Quelladar’s first came to live in peace they were taken in with open arms. I assume Ember would probably be under constant scrutiny if she wants to stay in Tenguard. So at least spilling some details may be necessary as it’ll only be a matter of time before a reader will expose that Ember is a demon.
Ken seems to be up to something as well. He might be causing a damper in what Elane is planning just to get Ember back. Denrim maybe a jerk, but I’m a bit more worried about what Ken is up to. Right now I’m guessing Denrim’s squad is made up with those not to fond of non-Tennins.
Is the reader wearing a platemail bikini?
Yes, and all the pro’s/con’s that entails.

It’s just to look fancy, really. Most Tennin mages don’t wear armor at all.
Point taken 😀
It looks great
A little chainmail to cover the belly and it isn’t actually that bad a defense.

All I can think of is, this is not the demon your looking for. 😁
You’re not your*
